Tarpo Industries Limited, a medium sized organization with activities across East Africa would like to fill the following vacancies to be based in Nairobi:

  • Sales Trainee                                       – TT/MR/0311 - 01
  • Sales and Marketing Coordinator      – TT/MR/0311 - 02

The application procedure is as follows:

An email address that is easily accessible by the applicant must be provided as most correspondence will be by email.

Upon the candidate being short listed, they will be contacted by email (or phone) and will be required to respond to the email with answers to a number of questions before a set deadline. This forms stage 1 of the recruitment process.

If answers to the questions in the email correspondence are deemed satisfactory, the applicant will be invited to sit an aptitude test and undergo a competency interview. This forms stage 2 of the recruitment process.

If the pass mark in the aptitude test is attained and the panel feels the applicant did well in the first interview they will be invited to an assessment day. The assessment day will involve an interview with more focus on the position applied for. A set of team tasks, business case studies and presentations involving interaction with other applicants and current members of staff will make up the rest of the assessment day. This will be the final stage of the recruitment process.

If an applicant is selected, they will be contacted with an offer.

Sales Trainee                                     – TT/MR/0311-01

You will be a passionate seller of high-value items, with an aggressive but charming approach to achieving your personal and departmental objectives. You will dress well, communicate professionally and respond quickly and effectively.

Experience of the outdoors including camping and use of tents and their associated accessories will give you a head start in securing this position. A fresh, out-of-the-box approach to sales will be seen positively by the management and directors of the company.

The notion of ‘Think Global, Act Local’ will form the basis of your response to inquiries.

You will report to the Sales & Marketing Coordinator.

Your primary day to day responsibility will be to provide accurate, honest information, to both internal and external customers, about the company’s products, services and additional untried and untested abilities.

Minimum Qualifications / Experience, Skills & Personality Traits

  • Diploma in Sales / Marketing OR 2 years experience in a similar industry
  • Excellent ICT abilities in MS Office
  • Excellent numerical skills including knowledge of financial accounting
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Fluent in English and/or Kiswahili with a neutral accent
  • Good report writing skills
  • Ability to monitor sales trends and act on them
  • Creative and Practical

This will be a trainee position for a period of six months, upon identification of cultural fit and exemplary capabilities, successful trainees will be recruited for the position of Sales Representative.

 

 

Sales & Marketing Coordinator                                          – TT/MR/–0311 - 02

You will be a team leader with an aggressive but motivating approach to achieving your departmental objectives. You will dress well, communicate professionally and respond quickly and effectively as is expected of a team leader.

Experience of the outdoors and/or harsh environments will give you a head start in securing this position. A fresh, out-of-the-box approach to sales will be seen positively by the management and directors of the company.

The notion of ‘Think Global, Act Local’ will form the basis of your response to inquiries.

You will report to the General Manager and Directors.

Your primary day to day responsibility will be to coordinate the company’s sales activities and keep a continuous tab on trends. You will supplement the sales team and provide accurate, honest information, to both internal and external customers, about the company’s products, services and additional untried and untested abilities. Your performance will be measured by customer satisfaction levels and the department continuously meeting set targets.

Minimum Qualifications / Experience, Skills & Personality Traits

  • Degree  in Sales / Marketing OR Business Administration OR 3 years experience in a similar industry
  • Excellent ICT abilities in MS Office and Accounting packages
  • Excellent numerical skills including knowledge of financial accounting
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Fluent in English and Kiswahili with a neutral accent
  • Good report writing skills
  • Ability to monitor sales trends and act on them
